About Me
My passion is presence. As my teacher Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen put it, "the technique is presence". From our embodied presence, our creativity, learning and healing emerge. My philosophy is based on practicing kindness, curiosity and reciprocity.
For me, health and healing relate to a free flow of information or life-energy between different parts of the body and mind.
I use touch and movement, both passive and active, plus verbal coaching and mental imagery, to enhance or restore this free flow of energies. We may use anatomical models, pictures and text to augment experiential understanding in a session or class.
Performing arts have been a home for me all my life. As a child I was primarily an actress and singer, then dancer-choreographer, and now movement and presence coach for theater artists at all levels of development. I feel most at home now within community-based and participatory models of art-making.
I understand creativity as a basic dimension of each person. In a sense, we are constantly creating ourselves, but we are also in reciprocal relationship with the rest of the universe! We give and receive with each breath. Greater degrees of embodiment, and of integration of all the levels of our embodiment, allows fuller versions of our unique creativities to emerge. My work seeks to facilitate this deeper, more integrated embodiment.
